Philosophy & Approach

The Habitat Club embraces a child-led, play-based approach that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to nature. Inspired by:

  • EYLF: Supporting Belonging, Being, and Becoming through meaningful interactions and hands-on exploration.
  • Montessori: Encouraging independence, sensory-rich experiences, and respect for the environment.
  • Piaget: Facilitating cognitive development through active exploration and problem-solving.
  • Bronfenbrenner: Recognising the impact of community, relationships, and the environment on children’s holistic growth.

Implementation Strategies

  • Prepared Environment: A mix of structured and free-choice activities with natural, open-ended materials.
  • Observational Assessment: Responsive to children’s interests, documenting engagement and discoveries.
  • Community Engagement: Inviting Elders, artists, and environmental educators to enrich experiences.
